Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park is found in the southwestern part of Uganda neighbouring the D.R Congo Virunga National Park.

This game park was given special status as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because it has a unique biodiversity that must be protected and preserved.

The unique impenetrable forest cover is home to the half of the surviving population of the Mountain Gorillas apart from those gorilla families found in D.R Congo and Rwanda.

In Uganda safari excursions, gorilla trekking in the jungles of Bwindi is a top acitvity which gives tourists the rare opportunity to encounter the endangered mountain gorilla families.

Other activities are nature walks and birding various species of birds like green broadbills, bee-eaters, chap-in flycatchers and black billed turaco.
